Mersaidee's Story

IMG_2053.jpg

I grew up in a small town in Canada. I moved to the United States in the late 90s to work for a global company, and now reside in Southern USA with my family.

I've been a singer/songwriter since grade school, and I also loved acting and theatre. I was in a band for a few years and had a blast. By ninth grade, I realized I had a problem with typing—I failed the first-year mandatory typing class! At the time, I told myself it was because I was new at it. After all, I grew up with a single mom and didn't have a computer at home. I was accepted to university with a full scholarship, majoring in Theatre Arts. When I got to university, I found out that typing was a requirement for all of my class papers. After my first year, I left in tears. I had no idea that I was dyslexic. No matter how hard I tried, my fingers could not learn the keys on the keyboard without massive errors. However, I knew my brain could figure out what many in some companies struggled to do. So, I got a corporate job.

When COVID-19 hit in 2020, my husband encouraged me to begin writing down my vivid dreams. Knowing my past issues with typing, I was initially apprehensive. To my surprise, after completing my third book, and now, after four more novels and dozens of short stories, I haven't stopped typing. It’s amazing how fast you can type with two index fingers!

My good friend, another writer, asked me to attend Thrillerfest in New York in 2022. I attended again in 2023, 2024, and 2025. I thoroughly enjoy writing psychological thrillers and hiding “easter eggs.” Equally, I enjoy putting my stories into film script format. Also, I’ve been taking film directing courses, and I love it! I'm pitching my material, and plan to film my stories with like-minded creatives.

My pet peeve is secrets. I've added one after another in my debut novel Viola Ted, for the protagonist and you, the reader, to uncover. The heroes in all my stories are the true heroes in my life. The man in my debut thriller is inspired by someone else's father, a man from Scandinavia who was not only a decent and honest man, but also looked out for me like a father. He paid for my move to the States. His goodness toward me changed my life for the better. Additionally, a former boss, an incredibly talented, brilliant woman from France, empowered me. She is another hero in my story.

I'm grateful and sincerely thrilled to be writing. I look forward to sharing my fictionalized stories with you on the page and the screen!
